COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE (CSA):
"A CSA refers to an association of individuals who have pledged to support a local farm, with growers and consumers sharing the risks and benefits of food production. CSA members pay at the onset of the growing season for a share of the anticipated harvest; once harvesting begins, they receive weekly shares of vegetables and fruit." Wikipedia
I became a CSA member of HighCross Farm in 2010 and was a member for 4 years until moving to Florida, when I joined TeenasPride CSA.

A FEW REASONS TO JOIN A CSA:
- Healthy Eating - By prepaying for 20 weeks of farm-fresh vegetables, it greatly increases the chance that you'll eat more vegetables. It seems like once you've paid for them, the guilt kicks in if you don't eat them.
- Cooking is Fun - Half the battle is getting the vegetables, the other half is cooking them. I have discovered so many favorite recipes by being forced to come up with something to make based on the contents of my CSA box.
- Community Connection - You'll get the opportunity to meet the farmers who grow the food you're eating and other CSA members at farm events. I loved HighCross Farm's potluck dinner and farm tour.
