Wauwatosa Farmers Market

When it's still early in the CSA season I enjoy going to farmers markets because the weekly box isn't overwhelming yet.  I headed to Wauwatosa this morning, and really enjoyed the cooler temps and shopping in Tosa.

I ended up buying summer squash, kohlrabi, cucumbers, red salad potatoes and apple cider.  Not quite sure what I'll do with the potatoes yet, but kohlrabi and cucumbers are two of my favorite lettuce salad toppings.

I have many favorite summer squash recipes so I have no fear that I'll find plenty of uses for the squash I purchased.

Tonight I made a summer squash pizza that has quickly become one of my favorite pizzas, and the crust recipe is now my go-to pizza crust recipe.

Today was only my second time at the Tosa farmers market, but I've been impressed both times and would definitely recommend going there if you live in the area.

It's about 25 minutes away from my house, and I would prefer to go to my local farmers market in Menomonee Falls, but it's on Wednesdays from 8am-5pm, which are my exact work hours.

While in Wauwatosa I always like to stop at Outpost Natural Foods.  I hadn't been there since they remodeled and their bulk section is better than ever.

I bought three bulk items, my favorite cheese made by Chalet Cheese Co-Op, and a little book with great vegetable info and recipes called Fast and Easy Ways to Cook Vegetables

  1. I was there yesterday too with my sis and bro-in law, like from 10-11! Too bad we didn't see each other. Was the first time I have gone to this one. I like farmer's markets better once tomatoes are ripe! We split some breakfast from Maxie's/Blue's Egg - cornbread and grits with fried egg. Deelish!

    1. Wow, that's exactly the time I was there! A friend just commented on facebook that she was there listening to the guy playing guitar...sure enough, she's in the background of my photo that I took of that guy and I didn't even see her! Next time I'm going to keep my eyes open :)
